The seven sisters of the Hollywood film industry were the major movie studios of the period between the early 1980s, when The Walt Disney Studios emerged as a major, and 2005, when MGM was acquired by a consortium including Sony Pictures Entertainment. The seven sisters were:

  1. Columbia Pictures/TriStar Pictures — a division of Sony
  2. Walt Disney Pictures/Touchstone Pictures — divisions of The Walt Disney Company
  3. 20th Century Fox Film Corporation — a division of 21st Century Fox
  4. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/United Artists — a subsidiary of MGM Holdings
  5. Paramount Pictures — a subsidiary of Viacom
  6. Universal Studios — a subsidiary of Comcast
  7. Warner Bros. Pictures — a subsidiary of Time Warner
