Funding

Further to the initial US$28 million grant from the President of Omar Mine Clearance Organization, Shamshad had aimed to become self-sufficient through advertising by 2008, but when this failed to occur, the President agreed to continue subsidizing it on a year-by-year basis (US$1 million in 2008, according to Nasim Fazal). Other major sources of income include advertising, broadcasting deals with other companies, and sale of footage. In 2008, advertising accounted for 50% of the station's revenue
