Geography

Sharaqpur is located south-west of Lahore, across the River Ravi. Nala Daik passes slightly to the west of the town, and eventually meets the Ravi 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south of Sharaqpur.[2]

Religious significance

Sharaqpur Sharif is known as the City of Saints, and is the site of the shrine of Hazrat Mian Sher Muhammad Sharaqpuri Arain, who was born in the district in 1282 AH (1865 CE), and was a strict observer and preacher of the Quran and the Sunnah. He died in 1347 AH (1928) and was buried in Sharaqpur.

Agriculture

Sharaqpur is known for its extensive production of guava. Other local products include wheat, rice, and vegetables. Wheat production is enough to export and help in the country's budget.[clarification needed]

Commerce

A particular type of shoe known as the Khusah is manufactured in Sharaqpur and is popular across Punjab province. Khusahs are hand-made using leather and silver or gold thread, and nowadays are specially designed for the grooms at wedding ceremonies.

Sharaqpur also contains an ornate 24-hour food market, the main bazar of the old city running from Nalkay Wala Chowk to Malkana Gate. The main guy of Sharaqpur today is Doctor Rauf Hanif
