The spot-tailed nightjar (Hydropsalis maculicaudus) is a species of nightjar in the Caprimulgidae family. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela, and possibly Ecuador.

Its natural habitats are dry savanna and subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland.
