History
The site was originally two separate buildings.[2] In 1856, the State Bank of Wisconsin was constructed and in 1858, the Bank of Milwaukee was built. They had been designed by Mygatt & Schmidtner and Albert Nash and were each built out of limestone from Joliet, Illinois. In a 1903 project undertaken by Ferry & Clas, the buildings were joined together. After a portion of the building collapsed in 1956, the damaged areas were re-built with limestone that had been salvaged from the wreck and cream-colored brick.
