Summer Lee is a lawyer, a community organizer, and the Democratic nominee for the 34th district of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.[1] She is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America who defeated incumbent Democrat representative Paul Costa in the 2018 Democratic primary election with over 67% of the vote.[2] Because she faces no Republican in the general election, Lee will become the first black woman to represent Southwestern Pennsylvania in the state legislature.[1]

Lee was raised in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the Howard University School of Law.[3]
