The Super League Vrouwenvoetbal (English: Belgian Women's Super League) is the highest women's football league of Belgium. It was created in 2015 after the collaboration of a joined top level league with Netherlands, the BeNe League, ended in the 2014–15 season.[1]

Format

The season consists of the phases, contrary to the double round-robin used previously in the FIrst Division.

In the season 2015-16, eight teams participate. They play a double round-robin in the first stage. After that points are halved and the top four placed and bottom placed teams play another double round-robin for a total of 20 games. The winner of the championship group qualifies for the Champions League. The last placed team of the relegation group gets relegated.

2015-16 Teams

Brugge is the only team not returning from the BeNe League, after the shut down their first team.[2] The three highest placed teams from the first division get a place in the inaugural season.[3] In June the final line-up was published.[4] Ladies Genk were created after a merger from DVL Zonhofen and Turkse Rangers.[5]
