"Sweet Talk"
Song

"Sweet Talk" is a song recorded by Australian singer Samantha Jade. "Sweet Talk" was written by Charlotte "Charli" Taft, Brian Lee and Andrew Bolooki, and produced by Paro, with co-production from Brian Lee. It was first released on 18 November 2014,[1] and subsequently debuted at number thirty-eight on the Australian ARIA singles chart.[2] The song's accompanying music video was released on 21 November 2014 via YouTube,[3] alongside its physical CD single release.[4]

Background and promotion

After releasing her latest single "Up!", Jade announced her hiatus from her music career in order to spend all her time with her mother.[5] On June 8, 2014, Jade's mother Jacqueline Gibbs died from cancer at the age of 51, with Jade promising her that she would finish her second album.[5] A month after her death, Jade, accompanied by her father and brothers embarked on an international trip ending in London, where Jade recorded "Sweet Talk".

Following the release of the single, Jade embarked on regional tour to promote "Sweet Talk"; three-date Victoria tour, Albury's QEII Square on Friday and Victoria Park Lake in Shepparton.[6]

Music video

The official music video for "Sweet Talk" was released on 21 November 2014 via YouTube on Jade's official vevo account.[3] The video opens with a Samantha dressed in a crop top reminiscent of a popsicle, with blue and pink colors.[7] The camera quickly cuts to various scenes of Jade and her backup dancers dressed in various different outfits.[7] In other scenes, Jade's back up dancers suggestively sip, bite and lick various sweet things, including lollipops and slices of watermelon.[7] In a couple scenes, Jade dances with a shirtless man which also features her back up dancers.[7] As for the set design, donning pastel colors painted on the walls to create a peppy look.[7]
