The T G Millner Field is in the northwestern Sydney suburb of Marsfield and is the official ground of Eastwood Rugby Club, a rugby union team that competes in the Shute Shield competition.

History

In 1947, after Eastwood's elevation to the Sydney Senior Competition the club purchased seven and a half acres of land a mile and a half north-east of Eastwood railway station. At the time sporting clubs only had access to fields owned and maintained by suburban councils and this purchase was made possible by the benefaction of Colonel Tom Millner MC VD. Eastwood Rugby Club is the only Sydney first division club to own its home ground. The clubhouse and oval were built by volunteers and after 1963 and the development of dressing rooms, all home games were played at Marsfield. Additional land was bought in 1967 increasing the site to more than 16 acres (65,000 m2). Three full sized playing fields which have been floodlit since 1969, are available for games and training. The grandstand was also constructed in 1969. [1]
