Zoo Tabor – also known as Zoological Garden Tabor Inc. – was founded in May 2015. It is one of the newest zoos in Czech Republic. However, according its area - which is now nearly 10 hectares – it belongs to the biggest zoo in South Bohemian Region. Zoo Tabor is located in municipality Vetrovy – at southeast border of city Tábor.

Managing director of Zoo Tabor is Evzen Korec, owner and general director of residential development company Ekospol based in Prague.

Present time

Zoo Tabor was solemnly reopened at 30 June 2015 at 9:00 AM. Visitors can see more than 60 animal species with huge representation of South American fauna. There is also one restaurant inside the area of Zoo.

Endangered species

Zoo Tabor wanted to be focused on endangered species protection. Currently has already some species classified according to the CITES agreement as endangered (for example Siberian tiger, American black bear, Brown bear, Arctic wolf, Baikal teal, Red-breasted goose, Great grey owl, Snowy owl, Eurasian eagle-owl etc.)

Zoo Tabor is breeding not only endangered species but also other animals. Between the newest breed belongs for example puppies of arctic wolf.

History

Previous organization called Zoological Garden Tabor-Vetrovy was founded in July 2011. But it was shut down after financial problems at spring 2015. At present time is Zoological Garden Tabor Inc. whole new company with a new owner.
