Is this list auto-generated?[edit]

I've made some changes to GPS coordinates on this page, but I'm worried that if the coordinates are automatically created, then my fixes will be overwritten the next time the list gets updated. Anybody know? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Happywaffle (talkcontribs) 17:46, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The list was originally generated using a tool that a Wikipedian wrote that pulls all of these data out of a database available from the National Park Service. But it's a one-time thing and won't be run again to overwrite your edits. One request however ... please include an edit summary when you make your changes. That way, those of us who have these pages on our watch list know what you're doing without actually having to review the diff. The coordinates supplied in the NPS database can be inaccurate, sometimes significantly so. Thanks for your efforts at improving the quality of these tables. --sanfranman59 (talk) 18:41, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
