Merge[edit]

The page !! has 3 links, 2 of which are already in ! (disambiguation). The only link that is not a duplicate is the chess punctuation, which does also have a symbol for !. In other words, every link on !! overlaps with this page. Vicarious 21:21, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone searching on "‼" or "!!" is likely looking for the separate sections disambiguated by the !! page, while someone searching for disambiguations of a single ! is probably not looking for the doubled character. Keeping them separate helps searchers find the specific thing they're looking for more quickly. I don't see a counter benefit for merging them. -- JHunterJ 13:01, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • But all the links make sense for both single and double exclamation points, a person looking for a double factorial will not be confused to find a single factorial; nor a person looking for an excellent chess move be confused to find a good chess move. • A person looking for a double factorial needn't be taken to the single factorial page and then find the section on double factorial though. Separate disambigs can link to separate sections, which is beneficial to the user in this case. What benefit is there to merging the disambigs? (Being no less confusing, even if true, wouldn't be a benefit, just a lack of harm.) -- JHunterJ 11:09, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • There are a few reasons in my opinion, but they're all very minor, it's not a big deal either way and my interest has waned quickly. Feel free to remove the merge tags. Vicarious 03:07, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
