A picture of something on fire?

[edit]

What do you think? Antony272b2 19:06, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Antony -
First, I'd like to say thanks for providing the excellent link to Bhante G's reading of this sutta. Bravo!
Second, I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of adding a more traditional sidebar (Template:TheravadaBuddhism) and footer (Template:Buddhism2) to this article. I like the creative spirit with which you suggest a picture with fire. Perhaps to be added later? At the moment, I hope you don't mind, but I hope to develop this article in the next few days in a fashion similar to (though with significantly less material and none of the commentarial text) the recent Sammaditthi Sutta article.
Hope I didn't step on your toes here. If so, please feel free to revert my additions (of course) and I'd be happy to discuss this further with you here.
Best wishes,
Larry Rosenfeld (talk) 04:57, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

third sermon delivered or identified?

[edit]

In the Vinaya Pitaka, this is the third discourse attributed to the Buddha. Does this mean that this is necessarily the third discourse he delivered? Since I like to try to be as accurate as possible, I've identified this discourse as simply the third discourse ascribed to the Buddha in the Vinaya Pitaka; however, if there is a canonical statement I've overlooked that indicates that it is in fact his third delivered; discourse (in other words, that he did not give a public talk for several months after the Anattalakkhana Sutta), I'd be happy to see this carefully worded statement changed. And, if I'm wrong, I am grateful for the additional education. Best wishes, Larry Rosenfeld (talk) 13:41, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Well, many suttas are very small, you see, any utterence by the buddha longer than a few sentences could become a sutta. I'm not sure how many of the small discussions he had which are mentioned in the account of the vinaya pitaka also appear as small suttas on their own. Maybe the best way is to say that according to the Vinaya Pitaka, it is the third formal discourse delivered by the Buddha. Greetings, Sacca 10:49, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Larry,

I think this sentence is too complicated: ... third discourse identified as being delivered by the Buddha. And I think this would be better: ... third formal discourse delivered by the Buddha. All according to the Vinaya Pitaka, of course... Greetings, Sacca 11:46, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Done. - Larry Rosenfeld (talk) 13:32, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

http://dharmafarer.org/wordpress/ should point to http://www.themindingcentre.org/dharmafarer. This might be needed else where also hence it might be good to get a bot to do the URL change. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirinath (talkcontribs) 15:08, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
