1st Air and Air Defence Forces Command

Dear Kges1901 I have had to amend your otherwise excellent article as regards the end of the 16th Air Army. Michael Holm is generally best on the Soviet period and sometimes does not check sources correctly regarding the present day or immediate past events. When the Western Military District was created c2009, 6 A VVS i PVO and 16th Air Army were merged into the 1st Air and Air Defence Forces Command, as you can see at that page and its Russian counterparts; the 7000th Guards Aviation Base of the First Category is listed there. When Armies were reformed in 2015, the decision was taken to go with 6th rather than 16th - in retrospect, a somewhat surprising move, given the 16th Air Army's history (?).
