The result of the move request was: page moved to 1847 Zenkoji earthquake. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 20:29, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
1847 Nagano earthquake → 1847 Zenkō-ji earthquake – This earthquake is known as “Zenkō-ji earthquake”(善光寺地震). 126.152.56.227 (talk) 18:55, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support but modified per Roman Spinner - after looking through the sources, there's no doubt that "1847 Zenkoji earthquake" is the common name, I'm not sure why I chose the current one when I created the article. Mikenorton (talk) 21:04, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose as proposed, but would support 1847 Nagano earthquake → 1847 Zenkoji earthquake per GeoScienceWorld, Astro Databank, Geological Survey of Japan, 13 World Conference on Earthquake Engineering, Seismological Society of America, National Library of Medicine and virtually all other sources. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 23:22, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- However, the title of the temple is “Zenkō-ji”. So I think “1847 Zenkō-ji earthquake” is better than “Zenkoji earthquake”. 126.234.124.162 (talk) 10:53, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- The creator of English Wikipedia April 2005 entry for the temple titled it "Zenkōji" and, in October 2005, it was unilaterally moved to "Zenkō-ji". As for addition of diacritics, since English language does not use diacritics, names transliterated into English from languages that do not use the Latin alphabet, likewise would not use diacritics.
- In the case at hand, the English Wikipedia article, which currently bears the main title header "Zenkō-ji", lists at the bottom, under section header "Further reading" title=Zenkoji and Its Icon: A Study in Medieval Japanese Religious Art|author=Donald F. McCallum|year=1994|isbn=978-0-691-03203-0|publisher=Princeton University Press.
- Japan Guide lists it as "Nagano Travel: Zenkoji Temple" and the temple's own English-language website also lists it as "About Zenkoji / Outline of Zenkoji Temple." —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 15:29, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
