Reviewer: Wizardman Operation Big Bear 03:33, 16 June 2010 (UTC) This is a good article overall. I found the following concerns though:
- "Like other earthquakes in Alabama, it caused only moderate damage, but the damage was extensive." So was the damage moderate or extensive? Or both? If the latter it's written a bit redundantly.
- "Today, an earthquake similar in size to the 1916 Irondale event could hypothetically damage thousands of buildings, costing up to $1 billion." Is there a dollar figure for how much damage was caused? It can also be adjusted for inflation.
- "Striking just after 4 P.M. local time," linking local time to Eastern Time might be beneficial.
- "but from earthquakes in the NMSZ and other fault zones." When you mention the NMSZ earlier in the article, I would add the abbreviation to make it easier to follow.
- "If there is an earthquake in one of the zone areas, North Alabama is certainly going to feel it. There's going to be damage and some perhaps major. If one occurred in the zone close to Memphis, it would be devastating because buildings are not made to withstand earthquakes. Places like San Francisco are aware of earthquake risks and structures are built to withstand them." Quotes need to be cited. I'm sure it's the cite at the end of the para, but still.
- "Monitoring of the state's earthquake is facilitated by the United States Geological Survey at the Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI) at the University of Memphis. Birmingham has a seismic station which is part of the Advanced National Seismic System." While this is good for the article, I don't know if throwing it in at the end is best. It feels like an abrupt turn at the end of the article, but I'm not sure where else to put it.
- Ref #6 was a deadlink. It said .pd so I changed it to .pdf but I don't think that worked. What's the extension meant to be there?
I'll put the article on hold and pass when the issues are fixed. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 03:33, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- Believe I've fixed these? ceranthor 23:25, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
- Everything looks fixed from what I can see, so I'll pass the article as a GA. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 23:52, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
