I have removed this article from Category:By-elections to the Parliament of the United Kingdom in London constituencies. Mitcham was not part of London at this time, but was a borough in its own right in the county of Surrey. It did not become part of London until it was merged with other neighbours to form the London Borough of Merton, which did not legal come into existence until 1965. Thus the category is not appropriate. I would also question the articles inclusion in Category:Elections in the London Borough of Merton, given that a there was no London Borough of Merton in 1923 and b) the entity with the name Merton ie Merton and Morden Urban District did not include Mitcham. Indeed some of the Mitcham constituency included places which ended up in the London Borough of Sutton. Dunarc (talk) 22:56, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
