Wilt vs. the Celtics

[edit]

Just as it had been with the Warriors, it was still Wilt, the unbelievable player, versus the Celtics, the peerless team. Those who make this Wilt vs. Russell, miss the facts. Russell rarely guarded Wilt alone. Triple teams were common. Russell had the hops, perhaps the NBA's best ever, to block Wilt's shots at given times. But he got a lot of much-needed help in guarding basketball's Goliath. Chamberlain the athlete was stronger than any NFL lineman, plus with over 40" of leap. Plus he had skills. What he would be worth 40 years later would boggle the bank. No other player approaches his ability and numbers all-time. But the phenomenal player, who made awestruck spectators of his own teammates on the floor, could never beat The Team. Not until he had his own team.

On this page, as with most every other I have read from this period of NBA history, there is clearly an author at work with a heavy Celtics bias. While stating for the record that I am no admirer of Celtics, time to introduce some objectivity to the mix. Hushpuckena (talk) 13:49, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
