United States score: 857 not 854

[edit]

There seems to be a long-standing error in the United States score as recorded in the official records. https://www.igfgolf.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/1970-WAGTC-Record-Book.pdf has a total of 214 for the final round and a team score of 854. However the individual score given are 72, 72 and 73=217 with Tom Kite retiring. Contemporary sources, eg https://www.nytimes.com/1970/09/27/archives/us-amateur-golf-team-takes-eisenhower-trophy-by-12-strokes-in.html and https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=4ZJAAAAAIBAJ&sjid=IKUMAAAAIBAJ&pg=1710%2C5570734 give the United States a score of 857 and a 12 stroke win, so it seems than the official Record Book is in error. The Record Book for 2010 still has a score of 854 (https://www.igfgolf.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/2010IGFRecordBook.pdf page 71). Nigej (talk) 09:43, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
