Fact checking
[edit]I was editing Bad Day (Daniel Powter song) when I saw this edit by 89.103.7.10 that added two awards the song received in the 2006 Billboard Music Awards (BMA). As the one who originally added the information on Bad Day about the BMA nomiation, I found it suspicious. Then, I checked the sources I used ([1], [2]) and none of them mentioned the awards. So I had the idea to check this article (i.e. 2006 Billboard Music Awards) and, for my surprise, it mentioned the awards. However, this article uses the same sources I've used except for a CBS report. So, I'm here to ask the person who added the information (Dr.saze [3]): what's the source are you using? Or am I missing something? Gabriel Yuji (talk) 01:44, 2 June 2018 (UTC)
- Dear Gabriel Yuji, no, you are not missing anything. The fact is that on the Billboard sites are just some awards mentioned and you can see on e.g. Wikipage of Promiscuous under the title Billboard Music Awards there are more awards and nominationa than mentioned on official sites. And there's also link to more particular accolades and positions for Billboard 2006 Year-End Chart: [1]. And that was edited before my interrogating. And I have realized... why on official sites is mentioned e.g. Female Billboard 200 Album Artist but not the one for males or duos/groups. So that's it. But thank you for your clever notification. - Oh, I see. But I have another doubt: is the BMA the same as "Year-End Chart-Toppers"? I mean, if it is, should we add here "Top Hot Adult Contemporary Artist", Country, and other genres awarded? Anyway, I'm a bit sure about the reliability of this "Rock on the Net" site. I understand your point about the List of awards and nominations received by Nelly Furtado; however, Wikipedia may be wrong (see also: WP:OSE). Do you have access to another site or the magazine itself, Dr.saze? Gabriel Yuji (talk) 16:42, 2 June 2018 (UTC)
- Dear Gabriel Yuji, it was hard to conceive all the aspects mentioned in both Billboard Winners on official sites and "Rock on the Net" site. I have focused mainly on group of incomplete categories (e.g. R&B and Country categories should dominate, so they must have same group of categories as contrasted to less "important" genres - Rock, Rap and Modern Rock - here I rather follow mentioned awards). So it is a bit different than Chart Toppers because they picked just "some awards" and from that group they mentioned even fewer count of them. It is stupid but WE can fix it here together.. And it is the same thing with years before 2006 (I edit right now 2005 Billboard Music Awards). Dr.saze (talk) 11:29, 3 June 2018 (UTC)
- Ok, Dr.saze, let me know if I can help with something in particular. However, I understand almost nothing about this topic. I was just editing Powter's song and tried to provide the most complete and well-sourced information. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 19:21, 3 June 2018 (UTC)
- Gabriel Yuji, I have edited Daniel Powter's Bad Day because I was not sure whether this song or Furtado's "Promiscuous" had won Hot 100 Single of the Year. It was a bit mess made by Billboard itself. So when I realized which song has succeeded in which category I wanted to edit Powter's Bad Day because these indications were not exact. But whatever --- it is up to you. I would be really glad if you want to help me. But I don't know whether discussion here is the best way for communication. Nice day!
