Deletion discussion

This page should not be speedily deleted because this upcoming event has received plenty of press coverage. The event takes place next weekend, so let's just let the article SNOWBALL. See March for Science as a similar article. The Tax March was also in the main space long before the event took place. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:15, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

There has been no significant change since the AfD. Please go to DRV in future rather than moving almost identical things back into mainspace after AfDs have resulted in delete votes. Number 57 18:22, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
(edit conflict) @Number 57: I would also argue that this draft is not substantially identical to the deleted article. Yes, the list of partner organizations is the same, but the list of locations has been created from updated sources, and there are many more cities to add. I am trying to expand the improve this article to Good status, just like the Not My Presidents Day article. Withholding this article from the main space is a disservice to Wikipedia. Can we please not waste time debating an obviously well covered upcoming event? ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:24, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
It is almost identical. I suggest you are wasting your time on this, just as you were with the ridiculous Cristiano Ronaldo bust article. Try writing about something meaningful rather than stuff you see in the news. Number 57 18:30, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
LOL ok... ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:32, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Please just look at the Not My Presidents Day (which I helped promote to Good article status), Tax March, an March for Science articles. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:38, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
There is truly not much more to the current article version compared to its state when it was ruled WP:TOOSOON and WP:SOAPBOX at AfD; it's still merely an announcement, therefore not encyclopedic (yet). I said the same when you pinged me.[1] Your other articles had been greatly expanded between their AfD and their reinstatement; this one just doesn't cut it. — JFG talk 18:59, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Not true, since I've started going through the list of cities and converting content into prose. There are additional details about the planning, such as sign making parties, more specific locations for march routes, etc. To say this article is identical to the deleted version is inaccurate. I hope you'll amend your above comment accordingly. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:01, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
@Another Believer: I get that you're passionate about the subject, but you don't seem to realize that most of what you are adding today is promotional content, which is frowned upon at Wikipedia. I mean, bits like "The demonstration is being sponsored by Sonoma Climate Coalition", "Boise participants can attend a happy hour party to make sign for the event at IRU Headquarters on April 28", "The Durango event will feature opportunities to test drive electric vehicles.", where does this stop? Can't you really see the problem here? I urge you to wait until the event happens and then glean material from RS coverage. — JFG talk 20:03, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
I disagree. I am adding the type of content you see at Not My Presidents Day (must we really go through this again?), Tax March, and March for Science -- locations, activities, organizers (individuals and groups), planning details, speakers, march routes, etc. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:12, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Yes you do. And that's called advocacy, promotion, soapboxing. Appropriate for your blog or social media profiles, not appropriate for an encyclopedia. — JFG talk 20:16, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
I'll expect a deletion tag on the March for Science article, then. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:21, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
No, that one has a lot more diversity and depth of news coverage, I even saw it mentioned in the French press today. Due to international media interest prior to the event, it's already encyclopedic before it happens. The climate march/movement/mobilization/whatever it's called is not there yet. — JFG talk 20:27, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Alright, clearly I am not going to change your mind, so I'll get back to expanding the article. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:30, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
The point is not to change my mind; the point is to edit within Wikipedia policy. I have nothing personal against the article, but I see it for what it is: advocacy and little else. That was the unanimous response at AfD, and it's still valid. However, go ahead and enjoy adding whatever you want to add, I was just trying to open your eyes. — JFG talk 20:38, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
