Colours In Table

[edit]

With the announcement of the new "B" tour, the Challenge Tour, we again have the problem of deciding what colour to use for it in the season table.

At the moment, somebody has added the Challenge events into the table with a background colour (ddeeee) that is VERY similar to what is already being used for the Varient Events (e6e8fa). Obviously, this isn't going to work, as there is no point having colour coding if you are going to use similar colours for different things.

And we still have the problem of the beige that is being used for the World Seniors events being hard to distinguish from the plain white that is being used for the World Ranking events.

On that note, I would like to repeat the comment I made on the 2017/18 Season talk page a few weeks ago - an IP-user has changed the colour used for the PTC events to the same beige currently being used for the World Seniors events. And they have done it for all the seasons that the PTC's were in existence.

Again, there is no point having colour coding if you are going to use the same colour for different things. Yes, I know the PTC Series and the World Seniors Tour were never held in the same season, but that doesn't matter - the colour coding has to be consistent through ALL the snooker season pages.

First of all, I would like to propose that the PTC events are restored to being the colour that they used to be (C2B280), as it stood out more than the current beige colour.

Secondly, I would like to propose that the World Seniors Tour is changed to using the same colour (ff85ae) that was used for the Amateur events when they were briefly on the 2015/16 season page (see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Snooker_season_2015/2016&oldid=712095269) because, essentially, that is what they are - amateur events.

Thirdly, I would like to propose that a different colour is selected for use on the Challenge Tour events, as the current colour (ddeeee) makes it hard to distinguish them from the Varient Events (e6e8fa).

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and keep up the good work!

Actually, I would like to revise my thoughts.
I was just looking through the previous seasons when there were secondary tours, and here are the colours that were used for them:
Challenge Tour (1st incarnation): ddeeee
International Open Series: ddeeee
Pro Challenge Series: lightblue
For comparison, here is the colour that is used for the Varient Events:
Varient Event: E6E8FA
In theory, it would make sense to have all the secondary tours being the same colour. HOWEVER, the International Open Series and the Pro Challenge Series overlapped in the 2009/10 season. So, that would not work.
So, given that the Pro Challenge Series uses lightblue, and this stands out compared to the other colours in the table, I would like to propose that the secondary tours should use different shades of blue.
The other issue is the Varient Events. Even if the secondary tours are changed away from ddeeee, there are added complications:
Last season, a Varient Event (the Shoot Out) became a World Ranking event.
This season, there will be a Varient Event (the World Seniors 6-Red Championship) on the World Seniors Tour.
Now that Varient Events are starting to be brought into the other designations, it is perhaps time that we found an alternative way of distinguishing them, rather than using colour coding. But how it could be done, I haven't a clue.
Oh, it used to be so simple...
