Red Bull livery

[edit]

People keep adding information about the special one-off Red Bull livery. However, to me this looks like a violation of WP:NOTNEWS (Wikipedia considers the enduring notability, how a team paints their car has no enduring notability). Or do I have the minority view here? It has been widely reported upon by independent reliable sources. Major livery changes like this are relatively rare (compared with something far more trivial like a change to the design of a driver's helmet) and understandably receive wide attention. I think it has quite clearly been established as noteworthy. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 14:35, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This seems significant enough for a mention. BMB YT 500000 (talk) 17:41, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Your argument is flawed. Being widely reported doesn't make it noteworthy, per WP:NOTNEWS. SSSB (talk) 20:37, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps to be more specific I should say that it has been both widely reported and has received significant coverage. Something like a change of helmet design might receive a passing mention from sources, but this has received entire articles dedicated to it. I don't understand how this falls under WP:NOTNEWS; the stuff that was getting added about something Alonso had said in an interview about the previous race would fairly clearly (at least for this race's article), but this is something which is intrinsically related to this event which has received significant coverage from a wide variety of independent reliable sources. This shouldn't fall under WP:NOTNEWS, at least when most race articles have paragraphs long of a post race section, of which most is just reporting. BMB YT 500000 (talk) 07:42, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't agree that it is "intrinsically related to this event", but I can see that I am out-numbered, so I'll relent and re-add it. SSSB (talk) 09:43, 11 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
