What a mess. Somehow the regiment has no history prior to 1948 but was inactivated in 1945?--Buckboard 19:47, 29 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Buckboard (talkcontribs)

The 327th in its present form started in 1956. That period of time between 1945-48, the unit had its colors cased. From 1948-56, it was flagged as the 516th. The 327th draws its WW2 lineage from its namesake, hence what you perceive as a discrepancy. There is a good chunk of the history missing here, such as how the unit got its "Bastogne" moniker during the Battle of the Bulge. Everything related to the period after OIF-1 where 3-327th had its colors cased and replaced with a RSTA unit is missing. Everything related to COL David Hackworth in command of 1-327, or COL Charlie Beckwith in command of 2-327 is missing. It is also missing everything related to its 3rd OIF tour in Samarra, Iraq from 2007-2008. This all requires substantial revision. Jun Kayama 03:31, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Needs Serious Attention

[edit]

Is there no soldier or vet with unit pride? This unit is presently taking losses in Afghanistan and nobody has even noted it is there? [1] A forgotten war, forgooten losses, forgotten pride. How sad. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 11:50, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

i served as an officer in 3-327 INF when it was re-activated in 1983. The Brigade did not deploy to Grenada for Operation Urgent Fury. In fact, no Infantry unit fromhte 101st did so why is that listed on the top as a deployment? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.195.176 (talk) 04:21, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
