I removed the redirect to Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders to allow for a detailed history of this regiment in it's early form as distinct from it's later history. Tristan benedict (talk) 12:37, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is unnecessary. It was the same regiment, ergo the history can go on the main page. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:50, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Many apologies but was merely concerned about length of main Cameron Highlanders page as i was about to add a lot more information to WW1 and WW2. The main page covers early history in quite a lot of detail but leaves its service in WW1 and WW2 very sparse. Personal interest due to seven members serving in the regiment during both wars has made me want to expand the regiments history further. But if i add more info to the present page it will soon become one of those very large pages that become hard to read. If you have any advice on how to go about expanding present article without this problem do tell me. Tristan benedict (talk) 13:20, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you start adding the info to the main page. If it does get too long, then you can hive off sections to new pages headed e.g. History of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders during the Second World War. But what I wouldn't suggest doing is creating a separate article for the 79th, which implies it was a separate regiment without a continuity of history instead of a simple renaming. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:57, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
