Criteria for inclusion

[edit]

Hello Mlaffs, I see that you reverted me. It's my experience that consensus for list criteria is generally whether an item meets notability guidelines (supported by WP:LISTN - "As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a directory, repository of links, or means of promotion, and should not contain indiscriminate lists, only certain types of lists should be exhaustive. Criteria for inclusion should factor in encyclopedic and topical relevance, not just verifiable existence" - my emphasis). In this case, you seem to be applying a different criteria that does not offer an encyclopedic curation. I believe we should have the list identify stations that are established as notable with sourcing in already existing articles. In addition, this is unsourced content, and WP:V applies. Would you please re-revert? Thank you for your time. Waggie (talk) 02:34, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fair comment – lack of sourcing has been a problem with this set of lists for a while, so I can at least start to make an effort to help with that. But as I noted in my edit summary, these are licensed radio stations, which means that (at least for North America) it wouldn't be difficult to establish notability for the redlinks. The vast majority of stations have articles already, and those that don't are overwhelmingly likely to be created in time. This individual list is also just one of a long-standing set of lists for all AM and FM frequencies, and so it doesn't make sense to apply Visine to this list in isolation rather than considering the set as a whole. Might well be worth a community discussion, and I'd be happy to participate. Mlaffs (talk) 02:22, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
