The[edit]

The page states that the AMA gives out social security numbers of doctors, and uses footnote 3 as a justification. If you read the article in footnote 3, it says that SSN's are NOT given out. This page is out of date, poorly written, poorly referenced, and generally in need of help. The second paragraph contradicts the first, and the bullets under the 2nd paragraph are not sourced or dated. The "AMA changes in use of ..." section is empty except for a poorly-formatted reference to a document that no longer exists. The "ME Number" section repeats information from the introduction, without motivation. The "uses" section makes undocumented claims and does not mention the important use of the file in research on physicians.
