This page contradicts itself. In one paragraph saying that the 4 cylinder engine was not designed as a shortened version of the I6 and then in the next paragraph saying that it is a cut down "big six". I have a 1983 CJ7 with this engine (factory stock, I'm pretty sure) the engine size is clearly stated as 150CID on the vacuum routing sticker adjacent to the radiator. This Wiki article claims the AMC I4 it was first put into service in 1984. Interestingly, I have to ask many auto parts outlets to look-up the 1984 version of several of the engine parts in order to get the part that fits my jeep. I'm no expert, just a guy with a 1983 CJ7 trying to figure-out what he has. The other articles about 1983 CJ7's having the GM Iron Duke engine state that the Iron Duke has the intake manifold on the passenger side. My jeep has both manifolds on the driver's side, and a clearly molded AMC logo on the valve cover - I take that as wiki proof that I can't possibly have the Iron Duke.
