I have added in a plot summary and source for this novel. Ivankinsman 11:15, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The source is highly likely to be his time in Nigeria. The doctor is clearly based on his father; the locations easy to place with maps of Ibadan and (especially) the University of Ibadan. The events read like a telling of pre-1966 Nigeria. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bendel boy (talkcontribs) 09:17, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The plot summary is incorrect. Leafy does not "regain his girl" at the end of the novel, rather he has a one off sexual encounter with her mother. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.254.120.136 (talk) 11:48, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dr Murray character.

[edit]

The inspiration for this character is referenced, and indeed obvious. It might be relevant to mention that Boyd's father was named Dr Alexander Murray Boyd. Hanoi Road (talk) 13:18, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
