Specific game vs. universe

In the table displaying the figurines and the universe they come from, most "universes" are the names you would give an entire series of games. For example, The Legend of Zelda instead of, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. So why is Pit's universe Kid Icarus: Uprising? The series would be called Kid Icarus, since there are two other games that have the same naming formula as The Legend of Zelda. I'm going to change it, but this is my reasoning for doing so.--153.90.122.88 (talk) 18:12, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Correction of list / dates

Now that pre-orders are being accepted by major vendors, I believe the figure list should be updated. 12 figures are available, while Pit, Zelda and Bowser are not. In fact, Bowser is not part of the illustration used on the page showing 14 figures. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.142.159.180 (talk) 12:36, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Ummm..... Amiibo haven't been confirmed for Smash 3DS yet. Only for Smash Wii U. 58.7.174.157 (talk) 09:59, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

Samus amiibo error

This is mentioned on a number of websites (a Google search for Samus amiibo turned up several articles on the first page), but is it significant enough to incorporate into the article? I'm not much into collectibles, so I don't have the foggiest clue how this would be treated. But here's one such article from the aforementioned search: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/11/weirdness_factory_error_results_in_dual_wielding_samus_amiibo --Thunderbird8 (talk) 07:48, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

It's just a meme. ViperSnake151  Talk  15:43, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Information on defects seems irrelevant to the article unless we bring up manufacturing quality as a subject for the article. The legless Peach did NOT sell for $25,100, these were shill bids and passing that information off as factual degrades the quality of this entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.183.232.25 (talk) 21:20, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

Captain Toad Amiibo support is pure speculation

It's just wishful thinking by thge author of the citation. They even admit it in the cited article. It should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.42.118.198 (talk) 03:05, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

No it's been confirmed by Nintendo themselves - taken from the official Nintendo Amiibo website - http://www.nintendo.com/amiibo/line-up/#/games - 'More amiibo-compatible games coming soon: Including Captain Toad™: Treasure Tracker, Yoshi’s Woolly World™, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse™, and Mario Party™ 10.' Richardm9 (talk) 19:37, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Rarity

Should this be a section of the article? Considering how some of the uncommon figures, like Marth and Villager, are now going for more than triple the initial cost second-hand, it seems relevant enough to mention in the article. 50.173.217.50 (talk) 19:55, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Undo the reversion?

That someone must have lazily used a revert tool. There are lot of problems on the article and I don't think someone even checked what they are. There are duplicate list of "Supported games". As the 'supported game' in the table grow, the table will stretch very wide across the article. This table fits under WP:INDISCRIMINATE for all the red X's on every characters that aren't exclusive and aren't compatible with particular games. The release date already been mentioned multiple times. It also got an issue for other regions with their different release dates. It's already taken care in the article outside of table. This reversion did restored the bad table codes as well. He claimed it a "unconstructive edit". Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 22:45, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Toon Link's from column is supposed to be The Legend of Zelda

For some reason, the page listed specifically The Legend of Zelda" The Wind Waker. I had previously fixed this (may have been logged off), but I noticed this error is back. The from column is supposed to list the series, not the specific title (if it were to then Link/Zelda should reference Twilight Princess, the Fire Emblem characters their own specific games, etc...). I have fixed it to The Legend of Zelda. Please watchout for whoever is making these dumb edits. Thegreyanomaly (talk) 16:18, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

No, I changed it to refer to the specific game that the particular form represents. Toon Link is specifically meant to be Wind Waker-style Link. ViperSnake151  Talk  16:45, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
@ViperSnake151: - then do so for every other game. Link/Zelda/Sheik/Ganondorf are all 'specifically meant to be Twilight Princess styled. Ike is a character specific to Path of Radiance, and Lucina and Robin are specific to Awakening, all mega-evolving Pokemon in the gamemega-evolving Charizard and Lucario (and probably Mewtwo) are specific to Pokemon XY/ORAS, etc.... If Toon Link is specific referenced to Wind Waker, then for consistency the same must be done for all other game-specific characters/styles. Until you/others do this, I will revert any Wind Waker references. Thegreyanomaly (talk) 18:11, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Villager is missing

Super Mario Bros. series amiibo need to be in the table

Hope(N Forever) recently removed the Super Mario Bros. series repeats (i.e., all but Toad) amiibo from the table (twice). This table is meant to cover all amiibo. You cannot selectively remove some SKUs because they have the same characters and compatibilities as others. I have reverted their removal and am now leaving the page alone to avoid any possible edit-war. Perhaps, if having them in this format is not amenable, we could try making two separate tables? Thegreyanomaly (talk) 19:59, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Change release date to something else in the table like wave #?

The main problem I'm seeing is the different release dates in other regions. If we included the release dates from various regions to the table, the table height will be increased drastically. And if we're going to convert them into wave # then how can we handle amiibo series other than Super Smash Bros? Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 03:41, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Never mind, I've figured out how to handle Super Mario series. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 04:39, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Upcoming Issues

With more and more games receiving the Amiibo treatment, the table will eventually get to large for Wikipedia. I suggest we come up with an alternative, maybe a table per Amiibo or table per game, or divide it up into paragraphs per Amiibo, or something else that works. --Vahnx (talk) 02:57, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

I guess, we'll do about it if we end up getting loads of upcoming games in the future that are yet to be announced as of this post.Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 05:15, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

48 SSB Amiibo models?

While Super Mario Bros will have upcoming 6 Amiibo models as they're announced on the Amiibo website. There are only 29 Amiibo models released and 6 upcoming Amiibo models on the way for SSB series, who said there will be additional 13 on the way? May be the case of WP:CRYSTAL at this point. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 07:05, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

I believe it comes from Shinya Takahashi saying in an IGN interview that the plan is for all playable characters on Smash 4's roster to get their own Amiibo (48 being the the total number of characters on the roster minus Miis, alt costumes (Alph and Koopalings) and DLC Mewtwo). Still, it's ambiguous whether a character will get their own Amiibo in the case of Alph, Koopalings, Miis and Mewtwo. Personally, I'd have the number at 35, all the Smash amiibo figurines we officially know of. --Andromedabluesphere440 (talk) 10:39, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Gold and Silver Mario

Should these be mentioned on the Wiki or should we wait until it's officially been announced? 63.135.23.120 (talk) 21:12, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

Amiibo Numbers

The European versions of the Smash Bros Amiibos (And probably the super mario ones, but not confirmed) have official numbering, rather than just waves. this is shown both on the Nintendo Website (http://store.nintendo.co.uk/amiibo.list), and on the packaging itself (www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00Q6A571A) - it would be useful to be able to sort the list of Amiibo chart by those numbers - is that OK to add? 81.149.182.210 (talk) 03:00, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

The wave numbers serve as a replacement for constant release dates and of each regions, to conserve the table size, so they shouldn't be replaced with any other than the release dates themselves. Back to whether should the Amiibo number be added or not... It shouldn't replace the wave number obviously. Someone tried to add the Amiibo numbers there but I reverted them and hadn't had the chance to tell them I'd be OK with them being added but not as a replacement for the wave numbers. Also how can they help sorting the table better? Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 07:22, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
I agree - not a good idea to replace the wave numbers, but being able to sort by the "Nintendo order" would help. I'll go ahead and add the column 81.149.182.210 (talk) 21:31, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

Limited Availability?

I'm surprised there's no mention of how hard it is to find many of the characters, seeing as how it's a common source of complaint I've seen in a lot of places. You know, some like Toad selling out in minutes online, rumors of certain figures getting completely discontinued, heavy markups for some on secondhand retail sites, preorders getting cancelled entirely because the stores underestimated demand, etc. Is there any way we can find some articles that expand on this a bit and add an appropriate (sub)section to the article? -- 68.37.227.226 (talk) 05:08, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, there REALLY needs to be something in here about the insane sell-outs for these waves, how they're going for upwards of 100 times their MSRP (some), and articles like this are perfect sources: http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/04/04/nintendo-needs-to-get-its-amiibo-act-together/ I second the motion to add the fever pitch of this trendy fad (it's clearly as much a fad as anything else they created that causes this kind of stirr). 2602:304:CFD3:2EE0:E0BB:58F2:23D5:96C7 (talk) 22:04, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

"Figure"/"Figurine" VS "Toy"

I prefer Amiibo figures to be always referred to as "figurines" or just "figures" than "toys". Someone tried to assign them as "toys" and that sounded too bad for the collectors, telling that they are never meant to be collectible anyway. Nintendo never said that they're "toys" in its Amiibo website. The use with NFC isn't sufficient enough to not call them "figurines". Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 07:21, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

They are in natural fact, toys. Nintendo and at least one other RS does in fact refer to them explicitly as toys, and preannounces that the Amiibo-compatible toy concepts will take other future forms including cards; these facts are cited in the article. Figures are merely the only presently productized trend at launch. So the article has specific contexts referring specifically to figures, and the general contexts are referring categorically to toys. Furthermore, there is the subtle distinction of the fact that Amiibo is a protocol, not a specific toy, as is stated in the article; so it's important to always consider in one's phrasing, that the colloquial use of the term "amiibo figure" or "an amiibo" is slang or shorthand for "amiibo-compatible figure". So we can't just confabulate our own nomenclature, by process of elimination; that'd be like consumer lore or fandom or a fad (WP:NATURAL). One must not lean upon slang in an encyclopedia. What we editors or readers prefer, is generally irrelevant in an encyclopedia. I personally don't know offhand the difference between a figure and a figurine, and I guess there are giant figures like the old style GI Joe vs. the small modern style GI Joe, but I have no comment on that. Maybe someone can clarify that here, as I've never deliberately meant to take action to differentiate that so far.— Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 07:36, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
Right, I overlooked. The sentences in your edit summary was bit vague. I thought you were referring to NFC (so they're not just "figurines") and I wasn't sure how can they categorized as toys and "cards" until I realized that Amiibo in card form is on the way.
I also questioned myself about what's the differences between "figure" and "figurine" and I went to an awesome website that explained pretty well between them: http://actionfiguresbuff-jon.com/differencesactionfiguresfigurines/ Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 02:43, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
