Should it perhaps mention that the english lines don't coorrespond exactly with the Latin words? I mean, the first words "Angelus ad virginem" don't actually mean "The angel, coming secretly", and "Subintrans in conclave" doesn't mean "to the Virgin's room". I'm no Latin scholar, but I think it is closer to "the angel to the virgins room secretly came". The words can't exactly follow the english, because of the structure of Latin sentences, but the lines ought to at least match their coorresponding translation. Or at least it should explicitly state that they don't, and that the English is just a rough MEANING of the words, and no more..45Colt 21:03, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I do read Latin, and that translation is indeed a mess - but mostly because it has been done word for word when that doesn't really work because English and Latin structure their clauses differently. "Angelus ad virginem" = "The angel [came] to the Virgin,"; "subintrans in conclave" = "entering secretly into her room."; "Virginis formidinem demulcens" = "Calming the Virgin's fear,"; "inquit, 'Ave!'" = "he said, 'Hail!'", etc. Really, though, it ought to be redone so that it's verse for verse, and not line for line, in line with other similar articles on Wikipedia.
