According to Tortora, Derrickson: Principles of Anatomy and Physiology, there may be no apocrine glands in the human body. They suspect that mammary glands are in fact merocrine glands also. Drdobbin (talk) 18:34, 1 December 2012 (UTC).[reply]

This article needs to be reconciled with the Sweat gland article which describes apocrine and eccrine sweat glands, and which states that mammary glands (along with ceruminus and ciliary glands) are considered modified sweat glands.Penelope Gordon (talk) 08:52, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
