ISBN

I have many books that Apress published. I noticed that they do not have Congress catalog number and all ISNBs start with 1 (instead of 0 for North America). Maybe they are not based inside US? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.74.194.97 (talk) 22:07, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Both 0 and 1 are English language works and you need to drill down to the group code to figure out the country. National agencies for the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Zimbabwe, etc. get small blocks of numbers and then issue sub-blocks to publishers as needed. Expand? Notability?

I have read some Apress books and really like the company, so I was going to expand the article. After some browsing, however, I noticed that SAMS_Publishing, an even more prominent publisher, was marked for notability, so I am uncertain. I am going to investigate the notability of publishers like this. Should this article be expanded, or should it be expunged?. --David Gannon (talk) 12:02, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

O'Reilly Media, a similar, but older and more substantial publisher has an extensive article, and there does not appear to be anyone disputing the notability of its content. I am considering giving this article the same treatment. Yay, nay? --David Gannon (talk) 12:15, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Friends of ED

I landed on this article by being directed from "Friends of ED." If "Friends of ED" is going to redirect here, there should be some kind of information about that label and how it is related to Apress.
