The expand-tag

should not be taken too literally. The Danish article that is suggested, is about the prehistory of Denmark. This is clearly different than the archaeology of Denmark. RhinoMind (talk) 17:24, 8 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why this article is important

[edit]

As this article appears now, it almost calls for a deletion... but... Archaeology of Denmark is important, notable and worthy of an article of its own, nevertheless:

  • The archaeology of Denmark has contributed with many fundamental methods to the science of archaeology.
  • Archaeology as a science has a long history in the country.
  • The archaeology of Denmark has a long history of international engagement, with participation in or initiation of large scale expeditions across the globe.
  • The climate and local conditions of Denmark, preserves archaeological items extraordinarily well. Bogs, shallow waters, the cold climate and other factors secures these conditions.
  • The history and prehistory of Denmark is rich, varied, extraordinary and of international importance, and hence the results of the archaeology of Denmark.
