World Record

[edit]

The WR was 12,0 seconds, not 12,2 seconds. Myrtle Cook set this mark on July 2nd, 1928 in Halifax during the canadian championships (page 640 in the IAAF Statistics Handbook, Berlin 2009).--OlympicLegends (talk) 16:50, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is what the listed reference says: "The world record had been set in July 1928 by Canada’s Myrtle Cook in winning the Canadian Championship in 12.0. A few weeks before America’s Betty Robinson, only a 16-year-old, had run 12.0 at a meet in Chicago but the mark was never ratified as a world record. In the final, Cook and Germany’s Leni Schmidt were disqualified for false started. This left the race open for Robinson to win in 12.2, equaling the listed world record."
