Name in English

[edit]

https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Ftass.ru%2Farmiya-i-opk%2F7436431 suggests either avant-garde or Vanguard as the English translation of Russian: Авангард, which transliterates to Avangard. I picked Vanguard, but knowing no Russian myself, I might well be wrong.

'Vanguard' is sufficient. Both are correct. -- Nicholas Velasquez (talk) 18:04, 28 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Note: It is physically impossible for anything to travel at Mach 25. Mach is a measure air speed. No engine could generate that much thrust and no material could withstand the friction. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.190.36.212 (talk) 07:00, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rockets show it's possible. During re-entry you don't even need a dedicated engine to be that fast. --mfb (talk) 06:10, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Mach 27 is faster than LEO orbital velocity. So even most re-entry vehicles do not move at Mach 27. Furthermore, even the Mach 25 of orbiting vehicles is rapidly reduced when entering deep into the atmosphere as the Avangard must do during approach to target. 2601:246:4A00:921:558F:B5E5:9532:985B (talk) 02:51, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistent spelling within article

[edit]

The current article text uses at least two different spellings for the "United States of America", to wit: "US" and "U.S." I propose fixing it to "US".Redav (talk) 10:40, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
