Hi! I will review this article :) Basilisk4u (talk) 19:45, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Review

[edit]
Lead
  • Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the proper demonym for someone from the Dominican Republic is "Dominican"

 Done

  • "It remained the top-selling album on the chart for 24 weeks and was certified "Disco de Platino" in the United States" Say that it was certified Platinum instead of "Disco de Platino"

Changed to "platinum (Latin field)" so that readers will not confuse it for the standard platinum

  • The lead uses the word "album" a few too many times, try "record" occasionally

I have done some changes where appropriate in the lead.

Background
  • Maybe add if "Como abeja al panal" was successful, and if it charted anywhere

Like where it charted on the US Latin Songs? I added it.

  • "Guerra's bachata focused on street-level" What does it mean to focus on street-level?

I changed it to "focus on the language of lower-class". Any suggestions would be fine.

  • "Recording took place in his personal recording studio, the 4-40 studio in New York." Change to "Recording took place in the 4-40 studio in New York, Guerra's personal recording studio."

 Done

Musical style, writing and composition
  • "'Carta de amor' is a salsa track written in the style of a journal where he writes a letter to his lover." I think it would be better to say "'Carta de amor' is a salsa track in which he writes a letter to his lover in his journal."

 Done

Commercial reception
  • "In Spain, the album reached number one, where it spent eight weeks." On which chart did it reach number one?

 Done

  • "The album was also a hit in the Netherlands" --> "The album also performed well in the Netherlands"

 Done

  • It might be good to find a more recent source for how many copies sold if you can

Most sources I've read have stated that it sold over five million.

Critical reception
  • "Jason Birchmeier of Allmusic referred to Bachata Rosa as a "milestone effort" and writes "Not only is it his career-defining work, it's also one of the finest tropical albums of its era, or any other, for that matter". He gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars." --> "Jason Birchmeier of Allmusic gave Bachata Rosa 4.5 out of 5 stars and referred to the record as a "milestone effort", writing "Not only is it his career-defining work, it's also one of the finest tropical albums of its era, or any other, for that matter".

 Done

References
  • Add the Tribune Company as publisher for the Los Angeles Times (Ref #30)

 Done

Review on hold

Sorry for the delay :( I have finally finished the review and put it on hold in order for concerns to be addressed. Good work and good luck! Basilisk4u (talk) 18:52, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's cool. I'll continue on working on the remaining issues. EDIT: I believe I have addressed the problems on the article. Have a look to see. Erick (talk) 20:04, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I have also gone through and made a few minor changes. I believe the article now meets the GA criteria, and I will pass it. Great work! Basilisk4u (talk) 20:37, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
