Article about Backgammon Chouette

[edit]

Hey,

You have recently deleted an article I made stating it was copyvio. The site, from which you saw the article (redtopbg.com/chouette.php) is my site and I wanted to share my backgammon knowledge with the rest of the world, thus published it on the wiki which is by far the best site for general information. if there is a problem with that can you explain how can I amend this so the information could be published.

Thanks for your time, Davidoff 04:33, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Author Verification

[edit]

Hey,

I am happy to send an email from my domain to prove that the article is mine and i tried sending an email to permissions@wikimedia.org but i got an automated response saying i am not on the allowed domains. If possible i would be glad to send another email to who ever doubt this is my posting so we can finish this process.

Chouette Play Online

[edit]

I am not sure why you think there is no such thing in backgammon, by a simple search you can find a lot of information about the chouette plays. In fact if you will search for backgammon chouette you will see a lot of references for it thus, I added them to the article and it was my mistake not to add them in the first place. Please people feel free to make additions, corrections and comments. I do think this information is useful and there isn't a lot of sites that explain it in such simple terms, thus it is a required article here in wiki and should be kept even if it needs some improving. Even Google directory references the redtop site as a good resource for learning the chouette rules, so my guess would be that it is a good resource and should be shared through wiki. For the above reasons I do not think this article should be deleted, although I know I am a bit biased here but I am sure the facts above make sense and they are objective if you take the time to do the research for the article topic. • It's not really fair though, "Backgammon Chouette" is not a proper name, Chouette is a variant of Backgrammon, a fair google search would be without quotes.[1] Few results are going to be unrelated to backgammon. Equendil Talk 15:22, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have put the GNU Free Documentation License link on my page, so i hope it will be enough to get this published here, i have a lot more articles i would like to publish and this is good for me to learn the correct process of conducting this in the best manner. Please have a look at the site www.redtopbg.com/chouette.php to see the link addition.

article deletion

[edit]

Ok I have read the article and I think it is good and detailed and explains things in simple terms, as well as lets you really understand what is this chouette play is all about. About the article being a personal reference with no sources to back it up now that is untrue it has plenty of sources online and the author recently cited some on the article. The author stated that Google Directory references the site which also tells me this should be a good explanation of the article subject. I think there is no reason to delete this article and this should be kept for the benefit of the Wikipedia community and the backgammon community as well. Avitaltr 14:10, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My Thoughts of this Article

[edit]

I wanted to introduce my self I am the author of the backgammon chouette article and wanted to thank Crzrussian and Equendil for bringing all this information to my attention about copyvio and various other wikipedia fact that I needed to learn before answering to any of you guys.

Well after listening to Equendil Talk and asking him a fair few questions I made some amendments to the site which now includes the GNU Free Documentation License.

As far as it being a game manual that is also not a valid point, a chouette form of backgammon which is played socially, and the explanation tries to show what is it all about. You might also be able to debate weather any explanation of a game is a manual for it as well, well ofcourse you have history and important people but you will still have to explain how to play the game in order to make it interesting for the user. As well as you have to assume that a person, whose looking for backgammon or chouettes on wikipedia, might want to learn what is the term as well as get a general idea of how backgammon is played by reading rules and game forms of play.

I hope I conveyed my thoughts in trying to explain why this article should be published in wikipedia and that the simple and short explanation on the backgammon article is not enough for someone who is trying to really figure out what is the chouette is all about.

Thanks for your time, Davidoff 17:44, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I play chouettes often. There are many minor variations to the rules, as well. So a manual would be difficult to do. PreeLitoorit (talk) 17:07, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tidy up

[edit]

At present this article seems very thin. I've added a variation but I'm sure more should be added as well. Kate Phizackerley (talk) 00:40, 3 January 2009 (UTC) Kate Phizackerley aka Theban Moon[reply]
