Current information

[edit]

All the history is interesting but there is little about the current definition of "Baltic countries". More specifically, are the Baltic countries still just Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia? If not, then it is highly relevant to define what is meant by Baltic. 76.87.181.194 (talk) 23:43, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For current definition of "Baltic countries" please see the relevant article Baltic countries--Termer (talk) 01:34, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flags.

[edit]

@Klõps: What is the source for these flags? Is it claimed they were used for like 200 years? --Yomal Sidoroff-Biarmskii (talk) 16:35, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

These are the colours of Estonian Knighthood and Livonian Knighthood (Landesfarben), carried over from the crusade times as the three lions coat of arms. The first Estonian Song Festival in Tartu, South-Estonia, (1869) was dominated by the Livonian green-red-white flags (Link). In 1918 blue-black-white had become de facto national flag, but when in 1922 government drafted the flag law, alternative proposals also listed the Estonian Governorates green-violet-white flag Link. These were also used as flags of Baltic-German Corporations et:Estonia, est 1821, and et:Livonia, est 1822. Klõps (talk) 13:05, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
