Fresh start to the talk page

I'm in the process of updating this article, and greatly expanding it as well. I've put the old discussion (which was quite minimal, and didn't contain any pertinent content disputes etc) in an archive. Jhfortier (talk) 03:46, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Literary Themes

Although I think this section is important, it is nearly impossible to find citations, and I'm pretty sure that writing what I think the literary themes would be original researcher. I'm just going to remove that section, and if I stumble across some references on her literary themes I'll re-add it. I'd like to take this article to GA at some point, and that section will just get scrapped. Jhfortier (talk) 19:41, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Bibliography

I have access to the following book:

  • DeMarr, Mary Jean (1999). Barbara Kingsolver: A Critical Companion. Greenwood Publishing. ISBN 0-313-30638-9.

In case you don't have access to it, here's a copy of that book's bibliography section on "General Information":

  • Epstein, Robin (February 1996). "The Progressive Interview: Barbara Kingsolver". The Progressive. pp. 33–37.
  • Farrell, Michael J. (22 May 1992). "In Life, Art, Writer Plumbs Politics of Hope". National Catholic Reporter. pp. 21, 29–30.
  • Fleischner, Jennifer (1994). A Reader's Guide to the Fiction of Barbara Kingsolver. HarperPerennial.
  • Hile, Janet L. "Barbara Kingsolver". Authors & Artists. 15: 73–79.
  • Perry, Donna (1993). Backtalk: Women Writers Speak Out: Interviews. Rutgers University Press. pp. 143–169.
  • Quinn, Judy (10 February 1997). "Book News: HarperCollins Gets to Keep Kingsolver". Publishers Weekly. p. 19.
  • "Kingsolver Clarifies". Publishers Weekly. 7 April 1997. p. 11.
  • Ross, Jean W. "Kingsolver, Barbara". Contemporary Authors. 134: 284–290.
  • Ryan, Maureen (Winter 1995). "Barbara Kingsolver's Lowfat Fiction". Journal of American Culture. 18 (4): 77–82.
  • See, Lisa (31 August 1990). "PW Interviews Barbara Kingsolver". Publishers Weekly. pp. 46–47.
I'm going to pick up a copy from my library in the next week or so, and hopefully I'll be able to enhance a few sections. I'll definitely check out a few of those citations in the meantime, thank you for posting them! Jhfortier (talk · contribs ) 19:01, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Where to put the Bellwether prize?

Spanglej recently moved the Bellwether prize section out of the "Honours"section and put it as a standalone subsection. Although I think it was better suited where it was, I wouldn't mind some additional input; should it be standalone? It doesn't seem to have enough information to really hold up on its own, in my opinion, but what does everyone else thing? Additionally, should the "local eating experiment" go under the writing career (it IS a book) or under personal life? Jhfortier (Talk · contribs ) 03:57, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Theological Criticism

mormon.org is not a reliable source for theological criticism. Furthermore, neither goodreads nor "anonymous blogger[s]" can be cited. Nice try, though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.130.167.73 (talk) 16:12, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

To state what religious groups are saying is not NPOV. The editor was not arguing for or against what they had written. I think mormon.org is fine as a primary source, if just used to demonstrate what the group think, not as part of an argument within the article. See WP:PSTS. Reporting criticism of a subject is fine by the guidelines. The editor did not add the specific page from the Mormon site that mentions Kingsolver. Anna (talk) 11:53, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Criticism

The criticism section is just right-biased personal attacks. "Syrupy"? I'll remove it if no one objects, but it will probably be all of it, since I don't see much worth salvaging. — dorianha bogelund «talk» 14:04, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
