- I propose to undertake this review. It looks to be a well-written article and I will start my detailed review in the next couple of days. Cwmhiraeth (talk)
First reading
[edit]- First a query. What does the term "historic district" mean? We don't have them in the UK.
- The term is linked in the lead. I thought it was a pretty basic term given the subject matter and location. Is there an issue? ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:29, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- "The cemetery dates to the early 18th-century with stones dating to 1728" - Perhaps this is correct in US English but in the UK we say "dates from".
- Fixed and touched up the lead. I screwed up the terms a bit due to the purchase of the land (which was previously owned) for said purpose. You are correct. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:29, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- "... originally served as the town's government" - Town halls can't govern so perhaps you should say "seat of government".
- The last sentence of the lead mentions facts that are not mentioned in the body of the text. They should be added and referenced in the main article (though I see there is some mention in the infobox).
- Page number required for reference #3.
- Not "required", but done - I forgot to add it when I added the source! ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:29, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- "Built on the north-south axis on the ridge of Prince's Hill," - What does this mean?
- Sorta tweaked the wording. Essentially the architectural plan was constructed on a north-south axis (as opposed to east-west) in which the structure is constructed. And the structure was based on the ridge of the hill. The term does not have an article. One of the best examples of a well-laid out north-south axis is the Forbidden City. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:29, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- "Morgan describes the town has the town hall has having ..." - This sentence has got a bit muddled.
- Morgan is mentioned several times. Who is he and why are his views worth mentioning?
- Author of the NRHP nomination, I was told to reference the writer instead of repeating "the NRHP nomination form". ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:29, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- The second story, below the eaves, are half-timbered." - Should be "is".
- "The center of the building featured planned irregularity ..." - Other sentences in this paragraph are in the present tense.
- "... designed for multiple uses and it is evident from the plan ..." - I think you should substitute "this" for "it".
- "Markers of note include the Ward family marker, consisting of a "large rugged cross and an ethereal angel", and a 1903 stone marker dedicated to the slaves of the Barrington families and Classical Revival crypt dating to 1909." - It is usual to only link the last two items of a list with a "and".
- "Classical Revival crypt" this phrase is cited to #2, but it does not seem to come from there.
- It does but the OCR seems to have broken down when you probably searched for it. Second page, second paragraph and last sentence: "... Classical Revival crypt erected in 1909 by Edith Remington Phillips - in memory of her father, Leander Remington Peck." ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:29, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- That's all for now. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:55, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- Fixes done. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:29, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: - Pinging because I forgot to. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:30, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- Fixes done. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:29, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
