Characters
The character section should have a short summary of characters. Right now it's empty except for the link, which looks bad. If noone objects, I'll write it up soon. HertzaHaeon 23:22, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
What's the point of summaries? They'd be redundant since the link to the list of characters page already has character summaries there and links further to those characters who are covered in more detail elsewhere either in their own article space, or by affiliation. Also, the focus on BAA's principal characters tends to somewhat shift and doesn't stabilize til more than midway through the series, and even after Kaos and Nova become firmly established as main characters, Ido is already largely out of the picture. --BrokenSphere 03:12, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- The point of a summary would be to present the characters for those who don't want to go into detail. Just a paragraph or a list of the few most important ones would do. Look around Wikipeda and you'll it's common (The simpsons#Characters or InuYasha). An empty section looks bad and isn't following Wikipedia guidelines either: WP:BETTER#Articles_covering_subtopics. HertzaHaeon 15:29, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've seen summary paras re. the characters or brief blurbs for the main people, restricted to short paragraphs. Splitting the character section off was pointed out to me re. character sections in the main article space WP:Manga#Sections, #4. Are you thinking of limiting this to 4 main characters who were on there before (Alita, Ido, Desty Nova, Kaos) with a mention of the variety of other characters who make appearances? --BrokenSphere 00:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Exactly like that. Just a sentence or two each for a handful of the most important characters, so that you can get coherent information from the article itself. HertzaHaeon 19:37, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- OK. Sorry I misunderstood your original intent. --BrokenSphere 19:38, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Battle Angel film
Battle Angel was the film's page for a while until removed because it won't be released until 2009. The history is still left if someone wants to check for references and sources: [1]. It's a bit too early to have more information other than the film's existance, IMO. HertzaHaeon (talk) 19:29, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Minor Change to phrasing
Hello you referred to Alita as been in the American translations, although they are published in America, I think English translations clearer. (I am goning to check the foreign translations - think it was Alita in Spanish) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.4.246.50 (talk) 07:34, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Merge
I propose merging the Battle Angel OVA into this article as it really seems like a continuation of the series rather than a separate work (and the lack of independant references). Any thoughts? --Kraftlos (talk) 05:59, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Opposed. The OVA isn't a continuation. It's more of an adaption that is quite different from the manga. HertzaHaeon (talk) 10:23, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose. It is a totally separate work. The storyline basically cuts off at the end of vol. 2 of the manga. There are several key differences in plot and characterization that don't reflect how the manga progressed. BrokenSphereMsg me 16:05, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Ok, then I guess I'll take down the merge prop. Get some references on that sucker! :D --Kraftlos (talk) 19:30, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yes. I was a little surprised to find it mentioned in several movie/video guides. Maybe a reception section with refs should work. BrokenSphereMsg me 20:21, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Manga
Re-added content from 20:17, 27 May 2008 (last edit that had book names) - it was unhelpful to remove names of the books. This story has been released in serial form, and collected form. The English collected form has been identified in two ways, by volume name and volume number. These Amazon listing show the different covers:
- Identified by name: http://www.amazon.com/Battle-Angel-Alita-Graphic-Novels/dp/1569310491
- Identified by number: http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/1569319510/105-8798952-6175633
Viz Media on 2008, July 22 appears to now identify Battle Angel Alita by volume number (eg. http://www.viz.com/products/products.php?product_id=2170 ), however the previous printing had no volume numbers, and relied on the book's title. Removal of the names of the books from the wiki page about this series was not helpful, particularly replacing it with a link to a list of chapters for one volume and ISBNs for the others. The wikipedia article defines 'Battle Angel Alita' as a manga series, surely the article should be the place to identify what the series consisted of. The table showing volume number, japanese name and english name is best suited for listing this information, and useful for identification regardless of which printing. 131.217.6.8 (talk) 03:57, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- The splitout was entirely appropriate per project consensus, and I have reverted your reinsertion of the content. No content was lost in the merge IIRC, and the only reason some of it isn't appearing is because there are no chapter lists for most volumes. This isn't my fault; I have no way of getting ahold of any other volumes to add the chapter lists for them (at least, I think; I haven't tried looking under the volume titles yet). You are free to add information to the chapter list yourself, though. —Dinoguy1000 20:41, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. The split is missing correct documention (also see Wikipedia:Splitting#Procedure). Perhaps the list of works style guide would be useful here? "If the list has a separate article, a simplified version should also be provided in the main article." Or perhaps in regard to the project's opinion ignore it in favor of making the article more informative in itself.
I had expected an article on a series might reflect The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Chronicles of Narnia or some other book series. I'm not saying remove the chapter list page, I can see that this style helps (List of Naruto chapters (Part I) for example). But surely in regards to something that's 9 books long, it's common sense to list those books on this page.
The manga style guide says to consider splitting lists that are "long compared to the rest of the article", which would be the case for the entire chapter by chapter summaries but not for the list of volumes 131.217.6.8 (talk) 10:56, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Forward to Battle Angel (2011 film)
I added in the link to show people where to go for the 2011 film, because people are going to this page looking for the film and they get this page. Zach111493 (talk) 19:22, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
