what's up with the social opinion in the format section?[edit]

In its recounting of the events of the past week, Best Week Ever has been seen as a sign of the short attention span of millions of Americans. In a 2005 interview on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams said: "We have such short attention spans. Heck, VH1 has a show about last week." [1] In an article on the Pipe Dream website about VH1's decade-retrospective shows, writer Jeanette Duffy notes that "VH1 has moved on from exploiting entire decades to making us reminisce over events that happened just days ago in the Best Week Ever", jokingly suggesting that cable networks might eventually produce the "Best Five Minutes Ever". [2]

Criticism Retort[edit]

a quote from an interview on The Daily Show With John Stewart in regards to VH1's Best Week Ever...

"We have such short attention spans. Heck, VH1 has a show about last week."

I think I can understand where some people could support this statement, but the show is just simply there to not only poke fun at events that happened in the previous week. But it's there so that people can catch up on their human interest stories. I mean, some of the news that they tell I had no idea was going on (For example, I had no idea Madonna was adopting a baby from Malawi). While you could argue that people who dont know what's going on in the world should just watch the news, but isn't that what this essentially is? it's just got that comedic spice to it. And if you really think about it, the news is similar to "Best Day Ever" (although the news is never upbeat and comical).Xatticus 4:44 PM, 31 October 2006

The criticism section should be removed. The critism is directed towards society, not the TV show.--DrRisk13 (talk) 12:22, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. If nobody objects in a day I will remove it. 160.84.254.241 (talk) 20:01, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Still there, apparently... 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 15:08, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regular Segements[edit]

Do we really need this section? If so, it needs a makeover badly. It's poorly written ("a man answers questions") and most of these segments are featured less than once in a blue moon. I've been a devout viewer since 2007, and I've never heard of some of these segements.Rafe34 (talk) 01:07, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
