Confusion

Newer refs state that the dioxygenase, coded for by gene BCDO2, is responsible for asymmetric cleavage of several carotenoids creating one retinal, whereas monooxygenase, coded for by BCMO1, responsible for symmetric cleavage of beta-carotene to two retinals.
