Bibel 2000[edit]

The text states that Bibel 2000 is "the latest official state church translation". This is not quite accurate. The Church of Sweden had been 'divorced' from the state before the publication of Bibel 2000; the translation was supported by the state, but performed as an ecumenic project under the auspices of a bible society; and the edition was expressedly not sanctioned by the state as "official". (The latter had to do with the idea of separating the state from issues of faith.)

Bibel 2000 is widely accepted also by other churches in Sweden, but this has not always been without conflicts and exceptions. E. g., the Catholic church in Sweden actually got central orders from the Vatican not to use it for liturgic texts (but it still has been used by that church for other purposes).
