Talk:Black Peril

What precisely is this page trying to achieve? It seems to be trying to provide a narrative that any fear of sexual violence by female settlers from the native population was unfounded, and then using the most obscure sources to justify rather extreme propositions.

Surely we should be using sources to build a picture of reality, not choosing a picture of reality and working our way back to sources.

I made a perfectly reasonable edit, that modern crime statistic in the USA would tend to suggest that not all fears of rape from young black men are unfounded. They are vastly over-represented in the crime statistics. This is completely relevant in an article that explains the concept of "Black Peril". It is important for the sake of accuracy to also include that it is entirely plausible that not all fear of local populations was based on delusion.

Uncomfortable facts, are still facts. Have a backbone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.189.99.247 (talk) 01:51, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
