"Very few if any Blackhawk tools are made in USA"

[edit]

Any source for this claim? If not, it should be removed. I know for a fact that the "if any" part shouldn't be there, given that I just bought a new Blackhawk 111-piece socket set (item #99111) which says "Made in the USA" on the cardboard sleeve that came over the case, and every item in it aside from the spinner handle (i.e., each ratchet and every socket and extension) has "USA" inscribed on it. – MaximRecoil (talk) 04:09, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the statement should be removed. First, there are actually a lot of American-made Blackhawk tools out there, and they're not even that hard to find. Second, it's written like a criticism, which is inappropriate for an encyclopedia article. Third, there's no citation; a discussion of the tools' countries of origin would be interesting, but it has to be referenced or it's original research at best (and opinionating at worst). --typhoon (talk) 15:52, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The FTC found in 1999 that The Stanley Works was misrepresenting several of their products as made in the USA when they were not, specifically naming Blackhawk in the complaint. A link to the case in question:

I would guess that Stanley subsequently cleaned up their act as I didn't see another Complaint filed against them. -unholythree
