Mobility Scooters[edit]

I see a comment 'Bracknell has a higher ratio of mobility scooters than any other UK town centre' has just been added. I have no information to dispute this, however I have never been aware of that many scooters myself when in the town centre - although there is a mobility scooter hire shop. Residents elsewhere in town certainly use them, but I rarely see more than one or two a day. If nobody comes up with a reference in a few days I shall delete it. I'm inclined to think this probably isn't true, and if it is then it probably isn't verifiable. Googling mobility scooter Bracknell gives me nothing but adverts and some local governement stuff about accessibility, and Google News Archive has even less. My thoughts would be to remove it until it can be verified. Alzarian16 (talk) 19:05, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
This article does attract a lot of spurious comments, but I thought this one might have a grain of truth (hence the fact tag rather than straight delete). It may be no more than another mischievous edit, in which case Dsergeant's intentions are correct. However, I can understand why someone might add this: walking from work to the town centre along Crowthorne Road North (over the old railway bridge) and past the bus station and there are numerous people using these scooters -- I've even seen them near-racing down there! Of course, this really shouldn't stay in the article for long, as such 'facts' have a habit of spreading... -- EdJogg (talk) 08:48, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Must walk along that bit at different times to you, never seen any racing scooters myself - maybe they are hurrying to catch a bus?... Dsergeant (talk) 16:39, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
OK, having thought about this I have decided to delete it. On my 1 mile walk up to town today I saw one scooter in the town centre and a couple more on the way. Hardly evidence that there is 'more than average' here. Dsergeant (talk) 16:54, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Lead Photograph[edit]

The lead photo of Charles Square and the water fountain is no more, just a pile of rubble inside hoardings. Options currently are very limited - banking court, High Street with Bentalls, or Princess Square are literally all that is left if you restrict it to 'town centre'. I will look at what is available on Geographia - what we have must last until the new town opens in late 2017. Dsergeant (talk) 06:22, 27 August 2015 (UTC) OK, the only appropriate one on is a fairly recent one of the Post Office and is likely to remain largely unchanged during the development. I have added that - unless anybody can find a better one we will leave it as that. Dsergeant (talk) 10:41, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Well I spoke too soon - the post office is to be demolished at the end of the year to be converted to blocks of flats, with the post office itself relocating to within WH Smith Dsergeant (talk) 16:36, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
