Attempts to Wikify

[edit]

While Wikifying this article I spent more time on adding references and working on the Lead. ALthough no way complete I believe a lot more progress can be made in future edits. --Wikishagnik (talk) 23:29, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adding content

[edit]

I work in the Office for National Statistics in the United Kingdom and I would like to add some content on this article.

Specifically, I would like to:

  • In the Beyond GDP section I would like to change the words "be added to" to "inform" policy making. I think it makes clearer that these measures are ment to be an additional tool policy makers can use to design policies.
  • Add that the communication titled GDP and beyond: Measuring progress in a changing world was adopted by the European Parliament in June 2008 and that the actions included in the publication were revised on a document published in August 2013 by the European Commission, called Staff Working Document on "Progress on 'GDP and beyond' actions. Explain some of the actions taken. Also, explain the categorisation of the indices the European Commission aknowledges.
  • Add a section called "Measuring National Well-being in the UK", which will include a summary of the aims and publications of the programme with the same name lead by the Office for National Statistics in the UK.

I am happy to discuss any concerns about the changes I am planning to do.
