Title situation
[edit]In its first decade, the magazine is shown sometimes as "Broadcasting and Broadcast Advertising" and sometimes (as in the ownership statement of 1941-10-13, page 64) as "Broadcasting Combined With Broadcast Advertising". Sometimes it says "Incorporating" rather than "Combined With". Editorially, the magazine refers to itself in this period simply as Broadcasting. The assumption is that it must have merged early on with another publication called Broadcast Advertising but records of this period are vanishingly scarce. Co-founder Martin Codel (1902–1973) wrote a book in 1930 entitled Radio and Its Future. 121a0012 (talk) 00:56, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
Martin Codel
[edit]In 1943, Codel left the publisher's spot to take a position with the Red Cross in the North African theater of war. ("Martin Codel to Overseas Post", Broadcasting, March 29, 1943) I haven't found out whether he ever returned to the post. (Taishoff remained with the magazine until his death some time in the 1980s.) 121a0012 (talk) 04:13, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
